MAXIMUS – Built for Profit,Performance & Sustainability

23rd April 2026

Driving performance in beef cattle is not simply achieved by increasing feed rate, but by maximising the efficiency of nutrient utilisation in the animal. Understanding costs, accurate forage assessment and precise ration formulation remains central to achieving desirable performance outcomes within any beef production system.

At Fane Valley Feeds, this principle underpins our approach to beef nutrition and forms the foundation of the MAXIMUS feed range.

Performance

MAXIMUS has been developed with unique performance technology designed to support sustained growth and optimise feed conversion, helping cattle to achieve daily liveweight gains of up to 20% higher than conventional rations.

To support this claim, trials have been conducted under practical farm conditions involving approximately 400 cattle. Within each trial, animals of similar breed and weight were assigned to control and treatment groups. Both groups received a nutritionally balanced ration; the only variable was the inclusion of MAXIMUS in the treatment group.

The results were clear and consistent across all trial scenarios, with the cattle receiving MAXIMUS achieving an additional 140–210 grams of liveweight gain per head per day. This enhanced rate of gain directly reflects an improved feed conversion and stronger performance efficiency on farm.

Profitability

Feed typically accounts for one of the largest costs in beef production systems. Consequently, improvements to feed conversion efficiency plays a crucial role in determining financial performance.

With improved daily liveweight gain, cattle reach finish faster therefore MAXIMUS facilitates a shorter finishing period, ultimately reducing the cost per kilogram of liveweight gain. Through trial work, this has proven to deliver a 6:1 return on investment, meaning that for every £1 invested, producers saw a return of £6 from enhanced performance. This resonates true regardless of fluctuations to concentrate, mineral and/or beef prices.

Sustainability

Sustainable beef production increasingly depends on efficient input usage. Through enhanced feed conversion, MAXIMUS will support a lower input use and subsequently a lower environmental footprint.

Essentially, where liveweight gain can be increased from less concentrate feed through MAXIMUS:

  • Emissions per kilogram of beef are reduced
  • Nutrient utilisation is optimised within the animal
  • Overall farm sustainability improves

MAXIMUS demonstrates that sustainability and productivity are not mutually exclusive; improved feed efficiency simultaneously delivers environmental accountability and financial security on farm. By extracting the greatest value from every kilogram of feed, producers can achieve measurable gains in performance, profitability and sustainability.

So whether you’re looking to improve performance, increase profitability, or reduce your environmental impact, MAXIMUS delivers on all fronts. It’s about smarter feeding for sustained results, financial security and sustainable beef production – regardless of beef price.
